This is a 1/12 Skilling copper coin issued during the reign of King Gustav IV Adolf of Sweden in AD 1805. The obverse features the monogram of Gustav IV, represented by the capital letters “GAIV.” At the top of the monogram is a large royal crown, with small three crowns decorating the lower and lateral sides, collectively forming the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Sweden.

The reverse side displays a pair of crossed arrows, with the denomination “SKIL/LING” split on either side of the arrows. The upper part indicates “1/12,” while the lower part shows the year of issue, “1805.”

In AD 1805, Sweden was engaged in the Third Coalition against Napoleonic France. However, King Gustav IV Adolf’s leadership proved detrimental, leading to the loss of Swedish territory in Pomerania, located on the present-day German side. Compounding this misfortune, in AD 1808, the Russian Empire, now allied with Napoleon, invaded Finland under the pretext of expansion, resulting in Sweden losing its Finnish territories.

In AD 1809, Gustav IV was overthrown by discontented military officers and subsequently went into exile in Switzerland, where he lived in poverty until his death.

公元1805年，時值瑞典參加圍堵法國拿破崙的「第三次反法同盟」。然而古斯塔夫四世的領導不利，使得瑞典王國喪失在今日德國一側的波美拉尼亞領地。雪上加霜的是，公元1808年轉而結盟拿破崙的俄羅斯帝國藉口入侵芬蘭，使得瑞典王國失去芬蘭的領土。公元1809年，古斯塔夫四世遭到不滿的軍官推翻，最後流亡至瑞士於窮困中逝世。
