This is a gold dinar issued during the reign of Harun al-Rashid, the fifth caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate, who ruled from AH 177 to AH 185 (AD 793 to AD 801). Harun al-Rashid is also a legendary figure known from the famous collection of folk tales “One Thousand and One Nights” (also known as “Arabian Nights”).

The obverse of the coin features Kufic Arabic calligraphy, with the familiar Muslim declaration of faith, the Shahada, inscribed in the centre: “There is no god but Allah.” Below this, it reads “For the Caliph.” Surrounding this central inscription is a circular text taken from Quran 9:33: “Muhammad is the Messenger of God who has sent him with guidance and the religion of truth, to proclaim it over all religions, even though the polytheists may detest (it).”

On the reverse side, at the centre, is the continuation of the Shahada: “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” The surrounding inscription mentions the year of minting of the dinar but does not specify the location of minting.

During the reign of Harun al-Rashid, various types of dinars were minted, some of which mentioned the place of minting or even the names of local provincial governors. Despite minor differences among these dinars, they all featured the Shahada as the central content on both sides of the coin.

此為阿拔斯帝國第五代哈里發(阿拉伯帝國最高的統治者稱號) 哈倫·拉希德在回曆177至185年(公元793至公元801年)間發行的第納爾金幣。哈倫·拉希德也是眾所周知的民間故事《一千零一夜》(天方夜譚)裡的傳奇英雄。

金幣正面以阿拉伯書法的庫法體，在中央鐫刻穆斯林最為熟悉的清真言禱詞「萬物非主，唯有真主」，下方則刻上「為了哈里發」。周圍的環形銘文出自《古蘭經9:33》：「真主曾以正道和真教的使命委託他的使者，以便他使真教勝過一切宗教，即使以物配主者不願意」。背面的正中央是清真言後半段內容「穆罕默德是真主唯一的使者」，周圍的銘文則提到這枚第納爾鑄造的年份，但沒有提及鑄造的地點。

哈倫·拉希德統治期間曾鑄造不同類型的第納爾，有些會提及鑄造地點甚至是地方行省長官的名字。即便第納爾之間有些微的差異，但皆以清真言作為錢幣雙面中央的內容。
