The obverse of the coin bears the Arabic inscription “خليفه ابو الفتح” (Caliph, Father of Victory), representing the ruler’s title. The reverse features the Arabic text “ابراهيم شاه” (Ibrahim Shah), denoting the ruler’s name, along with the title “سلطاني” (Sultan).
The Jaunpur Sultanate, located in north-central India, declared independence from the Delhi Sultanate in AD 1394. Under Ibrahim Shah’s 38-year rule, Jaunpur became renowned as a centre of scholarship and for its remarkable architectural achievements.
