This is a 5-Kronor gold coin issued in AD 1920 by the then-King of Sweden, Gustav V. The obverse features a right-facing portrait of King Gustav V, with the issue year “1920” inscribed below his neck on the left side. Surrounding the portrait is the Latin title “GUSTAF V SVERIGES KONUNG” (Gustav V, King of Sweden).
The reverse of the coin displays the denomination “5 KRONOR,” adorned with laurel branches and the three crowns symbol, representing the Swedish monarchy. Below the laurel branches, on the left side, is the mintmark of the Stockholm Mint, while on the right side, the initials “W” represents the name of the quality supervisor, Karl-August Wallroth.
During King Gustav V’s reign, Sweden maintained a stance of neutrality through both World Wars, which spared the country from the severe devastation experienced by many other European nations.
