This is a gold tie tac adorned with the “Indian Head” one-cent coin. Issued by the United States from AD 1859 to AD 1909, the Indian Head was designed to replace the previous “Flying Eagle” cent, remaining in circulation until it was succeeded by the “Lincoln” cent in AD 1909.

The obverse of the coin was crafted by James Barton Longacre, Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. It features a left-facing portrait of a goddess adorned with a pearl necklace and an eagle-feather headdress, inscribed with the word “LIBERTY” on the headband. Surrounding the portrait are the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” while the production year “1907” is inscribed at the bottom.

On the reverse side of the coin, partially obscured by the tie tac mount, is a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon. Above the wreath is a shield inspired by the design of the American flag, and in the centre, the denomination “ONE CENT” is inscribed.
