This 10 Cash coin is a Double Flag Coin minted by Henan Province. The obverse side features the English inscription “Ho-nan” at the top edge and “TEN CASH” at the bottom edge. The centre is dominated by two crossed flags, the left flag being the Iron Blood Eighteen-Star Flag and the right flag being the Five-Coloured Flag, both tied together. Each side of the flags is adorned with a lotus pattern.
The reverse side is divided into inner and outer circles. The inner circle features a central hibiscus flower flanked by two rice ears, forming a “one flower two rice ears” pattern. The outer circle has “中華民國” (Republic of China) at the top and “當十銅元”(Ten Cash Copper Coin) at the bottom, with hibiscus flowers on either side.
Among the numerous varieties of Republican copper coins, Henan copper coins are distinctive. Except for the Party Emblem coins of fifty and one hundred Cash minted in the twentieth year of the Republic, other Henan copper coins typically feature a rice ear pattern on the obverse and a double flag design on the reverse. Due to this characteristic, these coins are commonly referred to as Henan Double Flag Coins by the public.
