This 20 Cash coin is a Double Flag Coin minted by Hunan Province. The obverse side features an inner and outer circle. The upper edge of the outer circle has the English inscription “THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA,” while the lower edge, due to its age, has worn away and is no longer discernible. The inner circle displays the classic “Five Grains and Four Leaves” rice ear pattern forming the Jiahe design. The surface patina is natural, giving the coin a protective coating with minimal rust and a noticeable granular texture.

The reverse side also features an inner and outer circle. The outer circle bears the four Chinese characters “湖南省造 “(Minted in Hunan Province) at the top and the denomination “當制錢二十文 “ (Twenty Cash ) at the bottom. There is a lotus pattern on each side; both the left and right lotus patterns show slight wear but their shapes are still visible. In the centre, the Double Flags with Five Colours are tied and crossed, with a five-petal flower, known as a “round chrysanthemum,” cast above them. This distinctive feature is key for identifying the coin type.

The Hunan Province Double Flag Coin, valued at Twenty Cash , was minted during the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republican era, specifically around the time of the Xinhai Revolution. Due to the many different versions and large quantities produced, it is quite complex.

這枚面額二十文的硬幣，是湖南省造雙旗幣，正面有一內、外圈。外圈上緣有英文THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA，下緣因年代久遠，已被磨損殆盡，不可辨識，內圈為「五穗四葉」的經典稻穗圖式組成的嘉禾紋，表面包漿自然，使得錢幣如同穿上一層外衣保護着錢幣，並無太多鏽跡，有明顯的顆粒感。

反面也有一內、外圈。外圈上置楷書「湖南省造」四字，下置楷書「當制錢二十文」幣值，左右各一荷花紋，左、右荷花紋略有磨損，但仍然可見其形狀，中間為五色旗雙旗繫結交叉，其上鑄有五瓣花，樣式為「圓菊花」，成為分辨幣別的重點特色。

湖南省造雙旗當制錢二十文銅幣，生產於清末民初的辛亥革命時期，因版別多發行量大，十分複雜。
