This coin, minted in the 2nd year of the Republic of China (AD 1913 ), was produced by the Guangdong Mint of the Military Government of the Republic of China and is known as the “One Hou Silver Coin.”

On the obverse of the coin, within a beaded circle, there is the denomination “10” in the centre. The outer ring bears the inscriptions “KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE” at the top and “TEN CENTS” at the bottom, with two four-petalled flowers on either side.

On the reverse, within a beaded circle, there is a dot and the inscription “壹毫銀幣”(One Hou Silver Coin). The outer ring features the inscription “中華民國二年”(2nd Year of the Republic of China) at the top and “廣東省造”(Made in Guangdong Province) at the bottom, with two four-petalled flowers also adorning this side.

To counter the widespread circulation of foreign silver coins in China, the Guangdong Mint was established in the 15th year of Guangxu (AD 1889) under the recommendation of Zhang Zhidong, the Governor of Guangdong and Guangxi. Guangdong Mint began minting Guangxu Tongbao copper coins and silver dollars.

In the 32nd year of Guangxu (AD 1906), the Guangdong Mint was renamed to “Guangdong Mint of the Ministry of Finance.” After the Xinhai Revolution, it was renamed again to the “Guangdong Mint of the Military Government of the Republic of China.” During this period, the mint continued to produce small denomination copper coins as well as one and two hou silver coins for circulation.

這枚錢幣是民國2年（公元1913年），由中華民國軍政府廣東造幣廠製造的「壹毫銀幣」。

錢幣的正面，珠圈內中央有面額「10」的數字，外環上部及下部，分別有「KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE」和「TEN CENTS」英文字樣，左右兩側尚有兩朵四瓣花圖案。錢幣的反面，珠圈內中心有一圓點及「壹毫銀幣」四字。外圈上部鑄有「中華民國二年」，下部則有「廣東省造」字樣。此外，亦背面亦飾有兩朵四瓣花。

為了抵制外國銀元在中國的氾濫，在兩廣總督張之洞奏請下，於光緒15年（公元1889年）成立廣東錢局，開始鑄造光緒通寶銅錢及銀元。光緒32年（公元1906年），廣東錢局更名為「度支部造幣粵廠」。辛亥革命後，造幣粵廠再易名為「中華民國軍政府廣東造幣廠」。此時不僅持續鑄造小面額銅幣，也製造壹毫、貳毫銀幣流通市面。
