The coin is a silver coin minted and issued by King William IV of the Kingdom of Hanover in AD 1835, with a face value of 1/12 thaler.
The obverse side features a right-facing profile portrait of King William IV, surrounded by a German inscription “WILHELM IV KOENIG V.BRIT.U.HANNOVER,” meaning “William IV King of Britain and Hanover.” The reverse side bears the denomination and year of minting, “12 EINEN THALER 1835,” along with the inscription “CLXVIII EINE FEINE MARK JUSTIRT” around the perimeter.
The Kingdom of Hanover was established following the Congress of Vienna in AD 1814 and existed until its annexation by Prussia after the Austro-Prussian War in AD 1866. King William IV, who also reigned as the King of Britain, served as the third monarch of Hanover from AD 1830 to AD 1837. Ascending to the throne at the age of 64, he became the oldest monarch to assume the British throne at the time. While enjoying popularity among the people, his relatively short reign did not significantly influence the political landscape.
