This is a one cent coin issued in AD 1938 (Kangde 5th year) by Manchukuo under Japanese control, made of bronze. “Kangde” was the second era name adopted by Puyi after he was installed as the ruler of Manchukuo. The coin’s obverse features a pearl circle around the edge, with the denomination “one cent” inscribed vertically in the centre. On either side of the denomination are intertwined peony branches, with the top two buds not fully open and the bottom bud fully blossomed.

On the reverse side of the coin, there are two pearl circles. In the centre is the five-coloured flag of Manchukuo. On either side of the flag, there is a five-pointed star. Above and below the flag, the inscriptions “Great Manchukuo” and “Kangde 5th year” are respectively engraved, denoting the country name and the year of minting.

In AD 1931, the Japanese Kwantung Army initiated the Mukden Incident, seizing control of Northeast China and subsequently establishing the puppet state of Manchukuo under the former Qing emperor Puyi. In AD 1934, Japan further tightened its grip on Manchukuo’s economy by founding the Central Bank of Manchou, which was tasked with issuing and minting the currency circulating within the puppet state.

This one cent coin, made of bronze, was issued between the 2nd year of Datong (AD 1933) and the 6th year of Kangde (AD 1939), spanning a total of seven years.

這是一枚康德五年(公元1938年)，受日本控制的滿洲國發行之壹分，其材質為青銅。「康德」為溥儀被扶植為滿洲國統治者後使用的第二個帝號。錢幣正面的周圍有一道珠圈，中央是直書的面額「壹分」。左右兩側是打結的牡丹花枝，上頭的兩個花苞未完全打開，底端的花苞則已經完全綻放。

錢幣背面有兩道珠圈，最中央是滿洲國的五色國旗，左右兩側各有一顆五角星，上下緣則分別鐫刻「大滿洲國」和「康德五年」，即國號和鑄造年份。

公元1931年，日本關東軍發動「九一八事變」控制中國東北，旋即扶植前清廢帝溥儀的滿洲國魁儡政權。公元1934年，日本為進一步控制滿洲國經濟成立「滿洲中央銀行」，負責發行和鑄造在滿洲國流通的貨幣。這枚青銅製壹分硬幣，其發行時間橫跨大同2年(公元1933年)至康德6年(公元1939年)，總計七年的光陰。
