Originally published between AD 1935 and AD 1976, the journal commenced with six issues in its inaugural year, followed by four in AD 1936, transitioning to a monthly publication schedule thereafter. It was recognised as the 33rd most influential work in American numismatic literature by the Numismatic Bibliomania Society.
Contrasting with “The Numismatist,” which predominantly covered club news, columns, and in-depth feature articles, this publication primarily served as an advertising platform. During the peak of the 1960s coin boom, it typically exceeded three hundred pages per issue, with the bulk of its content aimed at promoting the coin trade. Nevertheless, it continued to attract leading figures in numismatic research, such as Walter Breen and Robert Julian, among others. The journal also featured numerous succinct news updates, providing insights often unavailable elsewhere.
