This is a coronation medal issued on August 1, AD 1968, to celebrate the accession of Hassanal Bolkiah as the 29th Sultan of Brunei, available in both gold and silver grades.

The obverse of the medal features the left profile of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who ascended to the throne at the age of 21. Surrounding his image are legends in Malay indicating the Sultan’s name, title, and coronation date, with the abbreviation “D.Y.K.K” signifying “His Royal Highness” in Malay. On the reverse inner circle, there are depictions of a lion and a tiger guarding the Sultan’s palace on either side. The outer circle of both sides of the medal consists of triangular geometric shapes representing rays of light.

The medal is suspended by a fixed ring suspension link to the ribbon, with the ribbon’s colour scheme prominently displaying its Southeast Asian influence. The ribbon features a wide yellow band at the centre symbolising royalty, flanked on either side by symmetrical arrangements of white, green, black, and red colours, progressing from the inside outwards. On the reverse side of the ribbon, there is an attached plaque with a fixed pin, bearing the hallmark and address of the manufacturer, Spink & Son Auctioneers. Spink & Son is headquartered in London and is a renowned auction house established in AD 1666. Besides their auction business, Spink & Son also engages in the manufacturing of medals.

The medal is housed in its original green leather presentation case, with the Sultan’s title, name, coronation date, and medal grade (gold) embossed in gold lettering on the top. The white lining inside the lid bears the Spink hallmark and the quality mark recognised by the British royal family. The medal itself is set on green velvet lining.

According to the auction house’s description, the recipient of the medal was A. F. Stubbs, who was serving in the British Commonwealth Army in Brunei at the time. After the end of World War II, Stubbs was stationed in various locations, including Malaya, Singapore, and Brunei. He was serving as the commanding officer at Bolkiah Camp (which later became the headquarter of the Brunei military), when the Sultan was crowned in AD 1968. As a result, he received this medal as a commemoration of his service during that period.

這是公元1968年8月1日，為慶祝哈山納·包奇亞王儲登基為第29任汶萊蘇丹發行的加冕獎章，分別有金和銀兩種等級。

獎章正面的內圈，是時年21歲便登基的哈山納·包奇亞蘇丹左側像，周圍以馬來文刻著蘇丹的姓名、頭銜和登基日期，其中縮寫「D.Y.K.K」是馬來語「君主殿下」意思。獎章背面的內圈，是由獅子跟老虎鎮守兩側的蘇丹皇宮。獎章雙面的外圈，皆是代表光芒的環型三角幾何形狀。

獎章以一個固定環形懸掛銜接綬帶，綬帶配色充分展現其東南亞色彩。綬帶以象徵皇室的寬黃色為中心，兩側依序以白、綠、黑、紅色，由內向外對稱排列。綬帶背面有一塊固定別針的銘版，上面刻有生產商「斯賓克拍賣行」商標和地址。斯賓克拍賣行總部位於倫敦，是一家於公元1666年創立的知名拍賣行。除此之外，斯賓克亦有接洽獎章製造的業務。

此獎章保有原版的綠皮製收納盒，上方以金字燙上馬來文的蘇丹頭銜、名字、加冕日期和獎章等級(金質)等訊息。盒蓋的白色內襯是斯賓克的商標，和受到英國皇室認可的品質標記，獎章則是安置於綠色絲絨內襯上。

根據拍賣行敘述，獎章得主：史塔布斯是當時在汶萊服役的大英國協軍官。史塔布斯於第二次世界大戰結束後，先後被調派至馬來亞、新加坡和汶萊等地。蘇丹於公元1968年加冕時，史塔布斯正在擔任博爾基亞營區的指揮官，即日後汶萊軍隊的總部所在地，故獲得該獎章以茲紀念。
