This coin is a silver dinar issued by Harun al-Rashid, the fifth caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate. Harun al-Rashid is also a legendary hero known in the popular folk tales of “One Thousand and One Nights” (Arabian Nights).

The central inscription on the obverse of the coin is written in Arabic and reads from top to bottom in three lines from right to left: “There is no god but Allah, the One God, Unequaled in Power.” This represents the first half of the Muslim declaration of faith recited during prayers, known as the Shahada, which translates to “There is no god but Allah”. The surrounding legend states, “In the name of Allah, this Dinar was minted in the year 190 of the Hijra by Muhammad Diya in Al-Muhammadiyah.” Al-Muhammadiyah was located near the present-day Iranian capital, Rey. Rey has historical significance as a major city in ancient Persia and continued to thrive during the Islamic era, with the Abbasid Caliphate minting coins there.

The central inscription on the reverse of the coin reads from top to bottom in three lines: “Muhammad,” “is the messenger,” “of Allah.” This represents the second half of the Shahada, which translates to “Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” The surrounding inscription states, “Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, despised by the polytheists, yet he carries the guidance and truth of the religion sent to proclaim the truth, surpassing all religions.”

此錢幣為阿拔斯帝國第五代哈里發(阿拉伯帝國最高的統治者稱號) 哈倫·拉希德發行的銀幣。哈倫·拉希德也是眾所周知的民間故事《一千零一夜》(天方夜譚)裡的傳奇英雄。

硬幣正面的中央以阿拉伯文書寫由上而下的三行字，由右至左讀寫分別是「除此之外，沒有任何神靈」、「獨一的神」和「無能匹及」，即穆斯林禮拜時吟誦的清真言前半部「萬物非主，唯有真主」。周圍環繞的銘文為「以阿拉的名義回曆190年此迪納爾於穆罕默德迪亞鑄造」。穆罕默德迪亞(Al-Muhammadiyah)位於今伊朗首都近郊的雷伊。雷伊是古代波斯的重要城市，進入伊斯蘭時代後仍蓬勃發展，阿拔斯帝國則在此鑄造硬幣。

硬幣背面的中央，由上而下的三行字，分別是「穆罕默德」、「是使者」、「真主的」，即清真言後半部「穆罕默德是真主的使者」。周圍環繞的銘文則是「真主曾以正道和真教的使命委託他的使者，以便他使真教勝過一切宗教，即使以物配主者不願意」。
