The Guang Xu Yuanbao copper coin was one of the circulating machine-struck coins during the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty. It was initially minted by the Kwangtung Province in the 26th year of Guangxu (AD 1900), with subsequent production by other provinces continuing until the end of the Guangxu era in the 34th year (AD 1908).
This coin is an error coin, the origin coin contains an inner bead circle on the obverse side which includes the homophonic inscription “Guangxu Yuanbao,” surrounded by Manchu script, indicating the same. The outer circle features the denomination “Twenty cash in standard currency,” with five-petaled flower patterns and the characters “Hu” and “Bu” on either side.
