The “Yong’an Five Zhu” coin is a numismatic item bearing the era name, first minted during the second year of Emperor Xiaozhuang of Northern Wei’s Yong’an era (AD 529). Historical records delineate three variations of the “Yong’an Five Zhu” coinage: apart from the initial coinage that was characterized by the absence of any inscription on the reverse side by Emperor Xiaozhuang, there were also coins minted during the Yongxi period (AD 532-534) of Emperor Xiaowu with the inscription “土” (earth) on the reverse side. The third variation emerged after the split of Northern Wei, produced during the reign of Emperor Xiaojing of Eastern Wei in the third year of the Xinghe era (AD 541), featuring a four-character inscription on the reverse side. The absence of an inscription on this particular coin leads to the deduction that it belongs to the Yong’an Five Zhu series from the period of Emperor Xiaozhuang.
